Job Description

Key Responsibilities

    • Lead preventive, predictive, corrective and breakdown maintenance of plant machinery and utilities.
    • Manage mechanical equipment such as reactors, vessels, centrifuges, dryers, pumps, compressors, gearboxes and material-handling systems.
    • Oversee utilities, including boilers, chillers, HVAC, cooling towers, air compressors, vacuum systems and water systems.
    • Develop annual maintenance plans, shutdown schedules and engineering budgets.
    • Improve equipment reliability, plant availability, OEE and maintenance cost efficiency.
    • Conduct root-cause analysis of recurring failures and implement CAPA.
    • Lead equipment installation, commissioning, qualification and validation support.
    • Manage plant modification, capacity expansion, revamp and engineering improvement projects.
    • Ensure compliance with cGMP, EHS, permit-to-work, change control and pharmaceutical engineering standards.
    • Maintain SOPs, equipment history cards, preventive-maintenance records, calibration schedules and audit-ready documentation.
    • Coordinate with Production, QA, QC, EHS, Projects and Procurement teams.
    • Manage critical spares, engineering inventory, AMCs and vendor performance.
    • Lead contractors and the mechanical maintenance team while ensuring adherence to safety requirements.
    • Support regulatory, customer and internal audits and ensure timely closure of observations.
    • Track engineering KPIs, downtime, utility consumption and maintenance expenses and report performance to plant leadership.

Candidate Profile

    • 15–17 years of relevant experience in engineering and mechanical maintenance.
    • Experience in a pharmaceutical, sterile API, bulk drug or chemical manufacturing plant is required.
    • Strong exposure to mechanical equipment, utilities, HVAC and regulated plant maintenance.
    • Working knowledge of cGMP, equipment qualification, validation, documentation and audits.
    • Demonstrated experience in team leadership, budgeting, vendor management and shutdown planning.
    • Strong troubleshooting, planning and cross-functional coordination skills.
